Ramadan Kareem

Salam Alaikum everyone!

The word is in! Ramadan begins tomorrow, September 1st. Our first fast will be tomorrow, Monday, inshallah and the MSA has a whole host of activities prepared for Ramadan. Here's a quick run down for the next 24 hours:

Tonight at 9:00 pm in the Basement of Bingham. Tarawih prayers

Join us tonight for Isha salaat followed by Tarawih prayers in the Musulla located in the Basement of Bingham Hall on Old Campus. Brother Refai will be leading 8 rakat and giving short talk in between.

Tomorrow Morning at 4:15 am in Battell Chapel: Suhoor

4:15 sound too early? Fear not! Waking up at 4:00 am is totally worth it if you'll be having Suhoor with the MSA. We're kicking off Ramadan with a special first suhoor tomorrow morning in Battell. Join us for bagels, pastries, eggs and waffles early tomorrow morning before the fast begins at 5:00 am. Everyone is welcome!

Tomorrow Evening 7:25 pm in Battell Chapel: Iftar

Our first Iftar will be held in Battell Chapel tomorrow night as well. Join us at 7:30 pm at Battell Chapel as we break our fast and pray Maghrib. Afterwards, look forward to good company and a menu of new and improved ethnic food!

We have regular Friday prayers and Tarawih in the Musulla (located in Bingham basement). If you would like access to Bingham Basement please email Zenah.hasan@yale.edu

We've been frantically trying to add all the new arrivals to our list over the past few days, but we've likely missed a few. If you know any Muslims new to our community this year, please spread the word about Ramadan and let them know about Ramadan iftars, suhoors, and Tarawih prayers.

We also wanted to reiterate in case there's confusion: the Yale MSA is here to serve all members of the Yale Community. We may be an organization run wholly by undergrads, but all our events and activities are open to grad students, faculty, and staff as well.

We look forward to sharing this blessed month with you all,

- The Yale MSA

RAMADAN 08

Salam everyone,

As you all know the times of Fajr and Maghrib will change, with the sun rising later and setting earlier, over the course of Ramadan. The MSA will be adjusting the times for Suhoors, iftars and Tarawih accordingly throughout Ramadan. Tonight, we'll be meeting for Iftar at 7:20 pm at Battell and 8:45 pm for Tarawih in the Musullah. Please continue to look out for these updated times and refer to the attached official schedule if you're ever unsure.
