Ramadan Brief

Ramadan is fast approaching and, as before, the MSA will be providing daily iftaars for everyone (and suhoor packets for undergrads), with many thanks to the Yale Dining Services. The food will be, also like before, delicious and mouth-watering (think: vegetable Jalfrezi, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, Biryani, Tabouleh, Baklava, and more!).

This year, iftaars will be held at Rose Alumni Hall (232 York Street) for the first few days, and, after October 2nd, at Battel Chapel (at the corner of College and Elm street).

The MSA will also be having tarawih prayers every night, Insha'Allah.

Upcoming Events

Wednesday, September 13: Weekly halaqas commence with Br. Mahan Mirza. He will begin the general Quran reading/discussion circle post-Isha (9.00p) in the Bingham Basement.

Thursday, September 14: First General Meeting of the year! Come find out what the MSA is all about, and have your questions answered - whether about Ramadan, weekly services, halal food, or anything else! This will begin promptly at 9.00p in the Musalla.

Friday, September 15: Yalies will be trekking to Jackson, New Jersey for ICNA's Muslim Day at Six Flags - our very own Yasir Kazi will be leading the Juma'a.

Sunday, September 17: Hike to East Rock! This yearly MSA tradition is always great because you are rewarded with delicious halal chicken and lamb shwarmas after hiking up the trail (not to mention you get to enjoy the beautiful outdoors before it all gets covered with snow)! We will be meeting at Phelps Gate at 10.30a.

Thursday, September 21: MSA Meet & Greet! Come meet everyone before Ramadan begins and enjoy some free pizza, refreshments, and good company. This will go down at 7.30p in the Davenport Common Room.

We would like to welcome and introduce Mahan Mirza, who has previously served as Muslim Chaplain at Wesleyan University. Please click here to read the introductory letter from Mahan.
