This year, one of our main hopes during Ramadan was to
share the blessings we have with a variety of groups on campus - both those that we work with and those with whom we wish to build ties - by inviting them to our nightly iftaars at Battel. These guests have included (or will include): the Asian American Students' Alliance (and Cultural Center), the Persian Society, Hillel, the Multifaith Council, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our
World Fellows, South Asian Society, the Social Justice Network, and the Black Church at Yale.
As well, we have had members from the Muhammad Islamic Center, Masjid al-Islam, and
CAIR-CT join us. It has been great forming these new contacts and showing the community what the MSA is about.
We have also increased our involvement with the New Haven community this Ramadan through community service - we have volunteered at the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (
DESK) and are holding a food drive for all the graduate and professional schools!
